This treatment is often the first, non surgical, step in the treatment of periodontal disease. During this treatment, usually under local anesthesia, plaque and calculus are removed form you teeth and root surfaces and then there are smoothed. Often completed in 2 visits, this treatment has minimal post treatment discomfort and no limitations to diet or activity once completed.
You will bee seen between 4 – 8 weeks after scaling and root planning for a Re-evaluation visit. During the re-evaluation, the measurements taken at the initial consultation are repeated and compared. Depending on the results, the next steps in the care of your teeth and gums will be determined.
